Preload limited slip
« on: March 20, 2013, 11:40:39 PM »
Hi, I got a locker for a d35 discovered that i have limited slip in my 96 zj 4.0 already. I will probably put everything back together and stay with my LSD, because it seems to be also saver for the axle if going with bigger tires (just thinking 33" nothing wild ;-D).
Now I wonder, after understanding how the LSD works, if I can preload the clutches more for better performance and compensate for the wear.
Does someone know if and where and what kind of shims you can get to put more preload to the clutches? For me it looks like a 0.1-0.3mm washer between spider gear and thrust washer should do the job, (as much I can get in and still get the carrier pin in is my understanding). The right answer can win a powertrax locker new in box manuals show prints of oil, sweat and blood tho (just kidding).
Thanks,
