Waiparous - any info?
« on: July 10, 2013, 08:17:42 PM »
Hi guys,

I was thinking about pay a visit to Waiparous waterfall this weekend. Does anybody  know the conditions of the trail? Theres a bunch of creeks in the way that might be affected by the flooding (or not?)

Thanks!

Looks like you will be able to get at least as far as Waiparous Valley road.

Based on the amount of flow still coming down the Bow river, I'd wager that there's still going to be a lot of water moving through that valley. I would look at any creek crossings VERY carefully.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

The road is open to Fallen Timber campground at least or it was recently even though the SRD site states otherwise
Also, the rivers/creeks are down but what has probably changed is the entrance/exit of all crossings. Might be straight drop offs if our river banks are any indication.
i did ride Maclean Sunday and we had to cross a creek. It was below the seat 4 days prior to our crossing and it was only 1/2 a dirt bike tire deep.

I was out there last Sunday. The first bridge I crossed is in need of help. someone filled up where the land is coming away from the bridge with rocks. Most ppl sadly are driving around the bridge through the creek and up the hill.  Second bridge is slightly better than the first one I crossed. just a pot hole before the bridge. but the middle of it looks like the wood is coming away from the sides from ppl hitting it.  I can look up picks of the ones I am talking about and send them in.
I was completely lost. I was following someone who knew the area.

the bridges do need some love, I was down their a week after the rain, we turned around after the mud pits we talked to some quaders who said we wouldn't be able to float across the river like they did. didnt get to see the big bridge closer to the camp ground.
