Hey all, just putting some feelers out there to see what the interest level is in the Jeep community for this. I haven't posted this in the for sale section yet as it's not technically for sale just jet, but one way or another, it will be.
I took in a 1979 CJ5 from which I pulled the engine for another project.
Some things are fantastic about the roller and some are so-so.
Here's a rundown of what's all currently included in a potential sale of the roller, unless I decide to part it out:
What I like:
Frame was blasted and painted
The tub is in great shape, has been painted black and has spray in liner. Fellow did mention is has some filler. But as it stands, it is smooth and shiny black!
Tail gate is new and painted black
Hood is new (not painted but is black)
Front fenders are new (not painted but are black)
Leaf springs are over axle
Has 33's with decent tread left
Painless wiring kit (incomplete install, needs TLC)
TH400 auto with B&M shifter
Stock diffs - Dana 30 upfront and AMC 20 in the rear (3.73)
D-300 transfer case (2.62:1 low)
Stainless steel hardware (hood hinges, hood latches and other hood pieces, lower door hinges, tailgate hinges)
Has original doors but need a little TLC
Has original windshield frame but needs TLC and seems incomplete to me.
Dash is in place, but wiring not complete
New knobs and sliders for heater controls
No top
Drive shafts were made up at Pats
New bolts and mounts for the body
Has roll bar, but needs a good cleaning and paint
New tail lights
New fender marker lights
What I don't like:
Has seats out of a VW at the moment (easy to change to your wants)
The custom cross member hangs quite low and seems too far back as the rear d-shaft is quite short.
This cross member is bolted to the frame, so the tranny and t-case could be moved forward, but then the d-shafts would have to be altered, probably a good idea for the rear one.
Also, being that the cross member is a little too low, one could raise that up at the same time while moving assembly forward
Aluminum checker plate was used to cover the shifter access hole in the floor.
I am in the process of trying to price this as to whether I'll sell it as a roller or part it out.
Looking forward to your feedback.
