If any knows where to begin looking for a splice or something it would be great.  My 89 YJ is always turned on basically.  Key out of the ignition, the signals still work, stereo on, reverse lights on etc.  Any suggestions where to begin???  The fuse panel looks clean of splices...  Has been like this since I bought it!

follow the positive lead back from the main at ternminal. trace every single line that comes off of it and make sure it goes where it should. Also look for proper grounds. If something ain't grounded, it could screw things up pretty bad.

My Jeep would keep my radio running when the key was out.  When I got new battery contacts it seemed to fix it.

I would check the ign switch first. Does it start without the key .. can you turn the 'wings' of the ign without a key ??

Good thought, but I do need a key to turn the ignition...

On my XJ the holes for mounting the ign swt to the steering column are slotted. If the swt isn't lined up right it could possibly stay on, it could have an internal problem as well. I'd start with the ign swt. There shouldn't be any splices that would cause this sort of problem. In fact I cann't think of how a splice would cause this.
