NV4500/np205 issues
« on: January 27, 2014, 10:50:42 PM »
Hi there, ive been looking for ideas for my crossmember. I am currently running a 383 stroker sbc , NV4500, NP205 in my YJ. I decided to go the route of a short 32 spline input on the 205 and notch the tail housing of the nv4500 so I could gain the extra 2"of rear drive shaft length. The issue im having is supporting the combo properly. I fabricated a X-member out of 2" square for now that reaches the drivers side bolt hole on the NV then wraps under the 205s front output. So im looking for thoughts on keeping 1 bolt in the NV and  a bracket from the 205 to the frame or if someone has done this combo before maybe an idea on a better Xmember solution.

Here are some ideas. I did this on my Atlas, Klune, 4500 combo a few years ago.

Just do a tube across the back and then purchase or fab a support mount like the ones shown in the link.

Good luck

Was thinking the round T-case housing bracket would work well but was concerned about breaking tail housings on the NV from articulation and torque. Did you have any issues like this?

Nope. Its still running, and there is more weight behind the NV than a 205 because of the doubler.
