Using a Toyota BJ60 front and rear end in my 1985 cj7

I am able to pickup a used Toyota land cruiser front and rear diff. if I want to use them in my 1985 cj7. Does anyone have any experience with converting them?

For some reason I think the differentials on the Toyota axles are both offset to the passenger side? Confirm that. And make sure you have enough room to mount your leaf springs, I think those toyotas were narrow compared to a cj7.

I think that is correct.

Also the steering will be very custom.

Not really ideal in a cj.

Yes, the toyota axles are passenger side offset. I just spent the weekend rebuilding the knuckles on the front diff of my FJ60. It was a dirty, time consuming job and if I never see another birfield joint again I'll be happy. Stick with a dana axle and you'll be happy too! Also, the front brakes on the toyota don't have a lot of stopping power. They are a pretty tough axle though and you can get a full floating rear.
