Ok so I got one that is confusing me.
2003 Jeep TJ Sport, 200k on it, 4.0L
New battery ~2 yr ago, never really thought it was that great of a replacement but the gurus at CT said it was all up to spec, got it tested 1 yr ago as well.
So:
To day I left my lights on for ~1.5 hr, came out and jump in, turn key, gauges all light up but not enough juice to start up. Fair enough, boost it and off we go.
Come to a stoptional light, engine dies. Dont think much of it but at the next checkpoint, full stop, engine dies.
So i start playing with it on the road... while at cruising speeds put into neutral or clutch in until revs drop below 1k, no issues. Slowly reduce speed, no issues even at 1 mph until I get to 0 and boom engine dies.
Get back to internet, do some searching for about an hour and go back outside, jeep starts fine and idles fine for about 90 seconds as I rev the engine and watch the lights - no dimming or brightening as I do this. After about 90 seconds the rpms start to drop and every so gently... the engine dies again.
Remove the IAC, pretty decent carbon build up on it. Remove all with throttle body cleaner, get it back it and drive away for about 5 minutes until I come to a stop again......death.
So its something to do with speed and electronics. Right now I unplugged the battery hoping the jeep will reset itself and fix itself. I'm going to leave it off until my hands warm up enough to get back out there so any thoughts on the matter?
No voltmeter either for now, will pick one up ASAP
Any ideas greatly appreciated, buddy I called and the auto parts store down the street didn't really have much of an idea so far.
Thank team
