Looking for good local wreckers/junkyards that aren't PNP!
« on: July 27, 2016, 03:17:28 PM »
Hey guys,

Since Pick N Pull's prices have been steadily increased over the past few years, combined with their staff's lack of care (all the XJ's on the lot have bent driveshafts thanks to the forklift operators), as well as finding vehicles with damage from that one guy ripping out that one part he needed with no regard to whatever else he broke whilst doing so; I'm on the hunt for other options with regards to local junkyards and wreckers that would carry Jeep parts. Specifically XJ stuff, but also YJ and TJ parts would be handy.

What experiences do you guys have with Calgary yards? Any hot tips for best places to call or check out?

Full service wreckers aren't going to be stocking much for XJs anymore  as they tend to stay with the new stuff. Your best bet is to google Calgary auto wreckers and start calling.

If its an XJ driveshaft you need I might have one. I'd need the length of your old shaft to compare.

I'm actually looking for a ZJ driveshaft, as the XJ ones are typically not quite long enough (I have a slight front axle stretch).
Clay I'll get you some measurements when I'm home.

As for Alberta XJ/MJ owners on facebook, I've tried to join the group multiple times but keep getting denied. Eric, are you able to add me?

The length of my front driveshaft eye-to-eye is 33" sitting normal. so a driveshaft that was 31" compressed and 35" extended would be bang-on perfect, but I'll take anything that comes close.

i'd come out of retirement buddy but people don't pay frack all for XJ parts anymore ;)

theres a few good ones on kijiji under 1000$  get a parts XJ and strip her down for all the spares you'll ever need, hawk the rest :)

don't you still owe me a tcase Johnny?  :P

I have a bunch of spare stuff such as engines and tranny's, but it's the oddball stuff from ZJ's that I end up needing  ::)

Might do that though and strip an XJ or two in the future.
