Hey Mike,
IMHO, the K26 turbo's you've got are too small for your application. Sure, you could make them work, but they're relatively sought-after by import guys, so you might be better off selling them and picking up somethig more suitable.
As far as a "T3" goes, that's about a good a desription as describing a 1967 Corvette as "a red car". There are countless different configurations of the "T3".
I'd suggest looking for a TB03 from an '85-'86 T-Bird, however, here's the rub:
You're more likely to find a turbo off a T-Bird with an automatic transmission than one with a manual tranny. Now, if memory serves, the turbo they used on the automatic cars was an oil cooled unit (better than water cooled), but only came in a 45 trim, which is likely going to be a little small for your 2.5L. The manual transmission cars came with a 60 trim, but are water cooled. Given the choice between the two (and keeping things as cheap as possible) I'd go with the water cooled turbo in a 60 trim.
If you're going to spend a little money, I'd keep an eye out on the DSM forums for a cheap Big Evo III or Green that some of those guys run. Even a nice 20G would work well. I've seen several for sale from time to time as the DSM guys buy the 20G, then realize that they've gotta rev their 2.0L engines to 5000RPM before they'll spin that big son-of-a-bitchin turbo.
The other thing you're going to want to figure in is the added costs of fuel. Off the top of my head, I can't remember what the compression on the 2.5L is, but I'm betting that even with moderate amounts of boost and a good intercooler, you're going to want to stick to 92 octane.
Take care,
Kris
