2.5 litre needs more power Turbo?

I just rebuilt my 1990 YJ 2.5 litre with fuel injection it is gutless wanted to keep the light engine any suggestions to get more power

tell us bit more about your setup,  originally the YJ had 4.10 axles (with 4cyl) and about 28inch tall tires,  auto or 5spd ..... added weight like winch and bumpers
97 xj sport - stock
89 yj base  - 33's, arb

Re-gearing makes a big difference on-road and off-road. A turbo would work as well, but still wouldn’t get you the mechanical advantage that the proper gears would.

I have a six inch lift with 33 inch tires I redid the drive line New driveshafts added posi for the rear mechanical Cable for the front dif basically rebuilt this thing completely
Still has the 5 speed what gears would make it work mechanically 1990 YJ warn winch front and rear bumpers smittybuilt flat fenders did pipe sliders on the sides aluminum pipe boat rack for the top

As low as you can go. 4.88 would be a good place to start.
