19999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Rear Axle
« on: August 29, 2021, 11:50:31 AM »
Can anyone recommend a good Calgary based mechanic for home inspection of my 1999 Jeep Wrangler TJ Dana 35 rear axle? I took the diff cover off as I was getting the odd clunk. The oil and gears look OK but the inner axle bearings are shot I think. I found one thin sliver of metal about 1 cm long at the bottom of the diff and there's lots of play in the axle bearings. If it's the bearings can anyone recommend the best transmission shop for new inner and outer bearings and seals and possibly new half shafts?
Would it be cheaper (better) to source a good complete second hand rear axle and if so where?
Thanks
Spuddy.

You could try E Mortal. They installed the suspension on my Jeep. Their labor rates were cheaper than 4 Wheel Parts. Friendly guys working there and they get good reviews on Google.
