Gas Tank Swap
« on: July 27, 2006, 05:04:16 PM »
I just added some body lift to my CJ7, and there looks to be plenty of room for a bigger gas tank. I was just wondering if anyone has tried a swap, or could recommend a bigger tank that fits.  I currently have the stock 15 gal CJ tank, and with a V8 it doesn't really last that long, even going to 20 gal would nice.  Will a tank off a TJ fit, or any other suggestions?

Thanks!

My 02 TJ only has a 60/65 L gas tank, which would really only gain you 5-10 L

BlackYJ's right - the optional (big) YJ tank is 76L and the std one is something like 57L, if looking underneath for a visual the big tank is just slighly narrower than the skid plate , from what I have seen jeep seemed to use the same size skid no matter which tank so the smaller tank is recessed in a fair bit on both sides ...

well found this artical that "suggests" 91+ yj actually use same tank for both sizes,  IMAGINE ... so visually your ...well ... impaired I guess by the scheme described in the link below, in the 87-90 older yj's like mine big tank and small tank were just that ... this explains why I was thinking most buyers just optioned for the larger tank ....
