Jeep Compass etc.
« on: November 28, 2006, 10:29:19 PM »
Anybody test one of these out yet? We were looking at the liberty and Caliber tonight but the dealer didn't have any Compass' in stock for us to check out.

The Caliber has really bad blind spots, what were they thinking with those tiny windows?

The 07 Liberty is Really pricey, you can get a brand new 2006 Grand for the same price, and I've heard they're kinda hard on gas for their size.

I wanted to wait for the Patriot but with our car dying sooner then expected it just wont happen now

The wife wants new so its got to be 2006 or 2007 and we'd like to stay under $30k leaning closer to $25k and it has to be 4 door as we will have another tiny Jeeper in April and I would like some kind of 4x4 or AWD (Roads here suck in the winter, they need to invent a bio-degradable salt substitute the wont cause rust )

I like the 07 Unlimited Wrangler X, it's priced around $28K but it needs to be Wife and Kid friendly (not to noisy and not to cold inside heat wise) anybody tested one of these and have some thoughts please post. We have to make a choice by Dec. 5th so the sooner the better.

I took a quick look at the dodge nitro, It looked pretty good, and the pricing is about where you are looking.

Give "nuxjr" Rob, I am sure he'll have some good advice for you
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

I'm currently thinking that a JK for $30K might be what we try to put the wife into.  Looked at one the other day and she really liked it - this coming from a lady who (in her opinion) NEEDS to have the space of a mini-van.

Have you checked them out yet?

Nothing against the vehicles you're looking at but we figured out as soon as we had our second girl that we did need a mini-van.  We bought a new CRV in 05 when we had one kid but as soon as the second came along we ended up selling it.  You need a ton of room for a double stroller, playpens, groceries, dog, grandparents etc if you're anything like us.  Make sure that whatever you buy will work for you for at least 4 years.  We picked up a 2002 Honda Odysey and love it.  Tons of room, lots of power and great resale. ....Steve

I'll second the mini-van.  With our kids getting older we're looking at something different now, but they were really good for us with three little ones.  :)

Well thanks fo all the info guys, We testdrove the 07 "compass 4x4" (can't seem to say those 2 words together without laughing :) ) and she loved it, and its  way cheaper than the liberty and its got all the bells and whistles cruise, air, etc.
The way the guy at the dealership described it was AWD with a lockable rear end, how true this is I dont know. The CVT was cool....no shift points.

So in the end....we pick it up on Friday if every thing goes right.

I think it will be ok for the time being as we don't plan on having a second kid

I'll get some pic up when we get it
