To All Alberta Four Wheelers:
We all know or should know what has happened in both the Ghost-Waiprous and the Prairie Creek areas. There are several factions that are systematically working to shut down our 4x4 access across the province. Part of their success has to be attributed to the fact that we as 4x4 enthusiasts have not ensured our presence "at the table".
Unfortunately, it appears that the provincial Tory government may again, without our participation, input or feedback, move ahead with plans that impact us, as detailed in this link.
http://www.gov.ab.ca/acn/200601/1936121BAF...9F25A58EE2.htmlTherefore we need to move exceedingly quickly on these issues. With that in mind, Peter Straub and Dan Torrance have initiated the revival of the Alberta Four Wheel Drive Association. The intent of this association will be to act as a unified voice for the currently unrepresented 4x4 enthusiasts and 4x4 clubs of Alberta. Yes you did read the word "revival". There were numerous advantages to reviving a previously existing name/organization. These advantages are covered in more detail on the new website.
I know that you have many questions. Questions are a good thing. We hope that many of your questions regarding the rebuilding and the intent of this association are covered in the new website.
However, at this time I need to be very clear on 2 points:
1) The focus of the Alberta Four Wheel Drive Association will be to represent Alberta 4x4 enthusiasts and 4x4 clubs only.
2) There is NO MORE TIME for debate. It is TIME FOR ACTION.
We are going to need to lot of help to preserve our sport (wheeling is almost more of a life style than a sport) and we will be looking to all members of all clubs and indeed all Alberta wheelers, to do everything that they can to help. A united and concerted effort on the part of every single wheeler in Alberta will be the only means of retaining what we all treasure and love.
The first thing you can do to help is to cascade this message to every 4x4 club and enthusiast in the Alberta. Post the message our your websites and in your forums. Go to the Alberta Four Wheel Drive website (
www.ab4wd.com )and learn about the issues and what you can do to help. Bring this topic to the floor at your club meetings and select your club representatives. Make sure that you as an individual also join the Alberta Four Wheel Association.
The more voices we represent the better we will be heard.

Interim President
Alberta Four Wheel Drive Association.
