Interested in joining the club
« on: February 15, 2007, 12:06:01 AM »
I just recently purchased an older YJ to fix up and enjoying spending time with the youngster working on it. The wife won't go dirt biking with me, and said she will go in the Jeep and enjoy our beautiful country side.

I would like to attend a meeting in the near future to learn more about your club, as you all seem to be a great bunch from reading the articles posted.

How does one get to participate in your treks? I plan to trailer my YJ to and from events behind my Liberty CRD. Not planning on breaking it however, if it burns gas it can break!! This way I can get it home.

You plan on using your liberty to pull your Jeep and a trailer     .  I thought they were only rated for 3500 lbs?  Even if you have a diesel, thats a lot of weight behind a liberty

Yes I will have the YJ on the trailer. The Diesel has lots of pull and has surprised alot of my friends with its the power. With brakes on trailer I believe it is allowed 5000lbs and 3500 lbs without brakes. It out pulls the V8 chevy and my 02 dodge V8. I've had over 4800 lbs behind it on a dry run and power was no problem, as I could pass people on demand. We must remember with trailering a load its not the pulling, its the stopping.  The trailer is a light car trailer not the heavy equipment trailer!!! Believe it or not I replaced my Dodge pickup with this trailer and the Liberty and I now can haul a 16' piece of lumber home. The Liberty may be cute, but it is mighty with the CRD.

Yeah, the CRD has torque beyond belief for a vehicle that size. If it was a larger vehicle, my wife would be driving one right now.

Not like I'm going into the mountains or anything, oooops!!! All I know is it goes up hill on the highway faster pulling a trailer and load than my YJ does empty with 33" tires and stock gears.
