is owning modded jeep even worth it anymore?
The short answer is yes.
For the long answer (which is also Yes). come along on a run or come to a meeting sometime. The meetings are on the third wednesday of the month, details in the events section.
“RANT”
The longer answer.
The off road community will continue to loose trails and areas so long as there are individuals out there abusing the areas we use.
I know it is not the users of this forum that need to hear this but it is the readers of this forum that can spread the message to those that do need to hear it. I don’t know if we can stop the trend but we can try.
How?
1.
Respect the back country and try to educate others to follow the philosophy of “Tread Lightly”.
http://www.treadlightly.org/. If you have not been to this web site then go to it read it and tell others.
2.
Lead by example and participate in as many trail projects as possible. If we want to maintain and possibly expand the trails we have available then it will take an enormous amount of hard work. There is a bridge project this weekend and a fencing project next weekend. They need volunteers get involved. We will never convince the decision makers with the power over our trails to stop taking them away and give us more trails if we don’t work very hard at it. Members of the CJA working with other local clubs will likely have at least 2-3 more major trail projects this winter. I am going out this weekend but can't next weekend. It would be great if a few could step up and help with that project.
I know that lots of the club members and forum users have been out working on projects this year. Thanks for the effort. However, I am afraid if we want to have an impact it will take even more effort and for several years. That’s just the way I see it.
Thanks for giving me an excuse to rant. There are no guaranties but if you we don’t make an effort then we know what will happen to our trail system.
