get a second opinion - but your electric might be similar to my belt system, in the fan housing
there is a theromstat that senses rad temp - as it heats up on mine it causes the fan to engage
like a clutch ... they do this to conserve fuel ... when engine cold you can spin fan and eng hot
you cant cause its engage ...
yours might be as simple as the theromstat in fan housing expands and causes 12v to fan to engage ...
