Heater Core Hose Leaking - 89 Pontiac Sunbird.

I have a 1989 Pontiac Sunbird LE 2 Dr.

It just suddenly started leaking rad fluid consistently (i'd have a pool of rad in a matter of seconds). We've determined where the leak is and we attempted to fix it but the old clamp wouldn't let go (its an old spring clamp) and when my boyfriend tried to get it off he pulled a little too hard on the hose. Now the hose is considerably lose and it STILL LEAKS! ...

I want my car back... can someone give me some pointers on how to fix it? If anyone can.. lol.

Or give me a website where I can find some information. The Haynes manual tells me jack shat!

Replace hose & Clamp, and may be boyfriend too

its not the hose and clamp

those old j-bodies have shitty plastic heater cores,.. it's probaly broken - we have 2 of them (boosted 92 and 93 vert).

this is what you need to do:

buy a new 'metal' heater core from CT,.. probably cost you a little over $40 (i think)

and 2 new heater core hoses and clamps

cut off the old hoses

to access the heater core you need to go underneath the dash and undo the bottom of the heater box,.. tight fit

before you pry the heater core, it's bolted on the enginebay side by 1 or 2 10mm bolts.(near the hoses)

there are a couple guys on this site that can probably help www.hotwheelz.ca

99% of them have had gm j-bodies

Thanks i'll definitely check that out! That could explain why the hose is lose now LMAO... my boyfriend has a downside.. hes too strong, breaks everything when trying to fix it

We have a guy in the shop like that. Every time we hear pounding etc., we usually assume he's working on something... I think his underwear has "Get A Bigger Hammer" written on the waistband

Lol my sunbird is in good condition a much heavier car than my tercel was HAHA... but once the heater core problem gets fixed and the muffler too cause its loud... i'll have a nice little crap-box to drive around lol

I would do more work to it but honestly i'm saving my "mod cash" for the jeep i plan to buy lol. Im gonna mod the shat outta my jeep
