the sky is falling! the sky is falling!

my suspicions about the t-case was retarded. shifter linkage is fine. working perfectly.

i'm no good at trouble shooting. so I'm gonna shudup until I'm done disasembling my driverside axle hub and bearings.

So does this mean you're not coming wheeling tomorrow? Did you get that fan taken care of?

Kinda sound a little like bearings. Leave the front wheel on, then jack up the front and see if you can shake the wheels at all. When my bearings went kaput you could move the wheel alot. It was pretty obvious something was wrong.
I used to have an open mind but my brains kept falling out.

The bearings are a sealed unit and you have to buy the whole assembly, about $160-275 each.  Just bit the pillow man

You can change the bearings and seals if you want to.

But it not a easy job. Need BIG bearing splitter to start with.

I just bought new ones all assembled.  $160 each

Me and a buddy changed my bearings and seals (both sides) for around $120.  All you need is a press, its fairly easy but not something I would do at home.

Dava, where does one find complete assemblies for $160? Stealership is $450. Auto Value wanted something like $245 for new ones. I, being the cheap b@st@rd that I am, got one from jeep stuff for $75. Its all swapped out now. The toughest part was the hub removal. Exceptionally stubborn. Supposedly they are supposed to come out with ease. I had to use a puller to get the damn thing out.

If anyone is in need of a puller... drop me a line. :)

Darren. Where'd you get bearings and seals?

I got all my stuff at Partsource by Varsity Chrysler jsut off McKnight Blvd.  I got a fleet discount, (probably same one as Dava would get) so it was cheaper than retail, let me know next time.  Diamond Dave helped me with mine (actually, he did most of it after I removed everything).  He wants to see if there is a way to mount a grease fiting in the bearing hub to make it a little more serviceable, and maybe make them last a bit longer.

However, if we get'em from Dodge at $160 a piece for brand new OEM, I might go that route next time.

ya.. seeing as I have a spare now, Was thinking of working a nipple onto the assembly.  Anyone do this yet? how many people have upgraded to lockouts and serviceable bearings?
