computer help.
« on: March 05, 2009, 10:16:09 AM »
so i did the #19 injector swap into my 05 2.5 yj.
at first i found i was having a bit of a conection problem. and i had a leaking o ring.
i put some electric grease (advice from a parts guy) on the electrod points and it seemed to fix that problem. i then fixed the oring a few days later and ground out my intake for my 62mm tb.

i also took off the grease since i figured it might be shorting out my computer since both electrodes conducting to each other.

the day i did this it ran great! was fantastic, but every day that goes by it gets a bit worse. also when i first start it i have a fluttering acceleration till it warms up. then that goes away. i seem to max out at 3000 rpm in third and fourth and getting over 100 is tough.

i know i have a leak in my valve cover gasket and the gasket that connects the tps to the tb has a crack in it. (i also have a whistle some were..i think it the tps gasket.) . and all vacume lines look fine. on saterday i will be replacing my O2 sensor, valve cover gasket and fuel filter and hopfull;y my tps gasket if i can find one..

could my ecm be fried? it was brand new. anywhere to get them checked n calgary? anyother possible parts gone wrong?
possible map sensor? tps? any one have a map or tps? thanks for any help

how bout you fix the broken gaskets first. if you know you have a problem, start there. why did you replace your injectors? why did you list this as a 2005 2.5L YJ? am i confused or is there more to this story...

oops 95 yj.
ill post back after saterday...just tryingt o cover all bases at once. though im thinking now my symptoms sound alot like a broken cat converter....
did the injectors for a bit more power. they arnt much of a bigger flow but they have 4 ports compared to the stock one so they also get better fuel milage.

fix any vacuum leaks first and any exhaust leaks. both confuse the computer/O2 sensor readings. a fried computer tends to quit all together. also check that your connectors for air temp, tps, and coolant temp are making good connection. my 2.5 would run like poo until it was hot (then still just okay) till i fixed the broken exhaust studs on the manifold. runs so much better now.

thanks mike. i looked today a saw that i am missing a bolt to hold on my intake (could help that whistle)

I am also having a conection problem with an injector. does anyone know if it is possible to fix the conectors? is splicing wire together a bad idea? can you rewire the conector to the injectoer?

any hints on how to remove a rusted in O2 sensor?
did the valve cover and fuel filter. helped a bit...i still have a vacume leak somewhere i think.

thx

to find the vacuum leak get a mechanic's stethoscope and listen around, or try spraying it down with carb cleaner and it'll change the way it runs when it gets sucked in.

you should be able to get an injector pig-tail connector from a good parts guy, fixed lots with no problems. use solder and shrink wrap to keep it weather proof.

rusty O2, heat, lots of it. really bad ones i just melt out and chase the threads. worse case you can get a new bung to weld in.

  good luck.
