Family activities in the club?
« on: March 26, 2009, 10:19:43 PM »
I've been a lurker for awhile.  I am wondering about what types of family rides and family camping weekends the club might sponsor.  I am looking for less rowdy types of fun.  No loud drunks or drugs.  Lots of kids, noise and mud is just fine.

I don't want to sound preachy and couldn't care less if people party hard on adult trips (I vaguely remember the 70's) or are discrete with herbal meds.  Just a bit fussy when my 5 and 7 year old are along.

My seven year old made it out for 15 jeep runs last year,  the club has been great. I am taking my 4 year old out on Saturday for his first run.  The club is very family friendly. I only leave the kids at home if it is a harder run with increased risk. Even then several of the club members have been great about walking the kids up a trail if we were trying a more difficult obsital. No drugs or Booze on the trail. Club rule! Only time anyone is impaired is after the drivingis done around the fire at night and never been rowdy and always respectfull of kids.

Welcome. How old are the kids?

Great news.  Our girls are 5 and 7 but we are in our fifties.  We adopted from China.  They would love to see some wheeling fun.

This is primarily a family orientated club Bob. Pretty much exactly what you are looking for.

We have a trip every summer that we all take up to Grandcache and meet several other clubs for a long weekend of camping and exploring the mountains.

All family orientated. There is one member of the GP club that brings his FIVE kids with him on every trip.

My son has been wheeling with the CJA since his first birthday, two years ago.

You picked the right place.

Come to a couple of meetings. Come out for some of the open runs. Get to know folks, see if you're a fit for the club (and if the club's a fit for you)

I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

Now that my guy's old enough to participate, I should start coming again and join :)   He will be 4 this year and yes, people are pretty good with the kids... even when they decide to jump armpit deep into a mud hole while we're trying to get someone out  ::)

Hope to see you out on the trail this summer. My 4 yearold made his first run to Margerate Lake on Saturday and had a great time.
