Axel up grads
« on: April 12, 2009, 09:22:37 PM »
Over the course of the up coming summer and fall I am going to be building a new front D30 and C8.25 for my XJ. I will be having both trusted and will have a Detroit locker or a selectable (pending finding)  in the rear with 4.56 gears. I will be putting a selectable in the front one day. I want to replace both axel shafts and get rid of the c-clips.
What I am looking for is what suggestions you have for axles and c-clip eliminators.
Why does your Jeep say Toyota on it?
The obstacle is the path.

I put Moser c-clip eliminators in my Mustang and they have handled a lot of 1320 abuse with no fanfare.
I was going to do the same for my Ranger, but was advised not too. Seems people have problems with them leaking a lot under hard use off road.
4Wheeler magazine did an article on c-clip eliminators in the 90's, and had similar results with leaking.
Lockers
Cuz ya can't kick arse with only one leg

i havent seen any c-clip elims for the 8.25... but maybe you station wagon guys may know of some?
sounds like a good project aaron. should be able to find both front and rear ends fairly easily and cheaply. some chromo axles and good u-joints are around as well. take your time and build it right. wait longer if you need the cash to build it right the first time:)
