1995 Jeep YJ Issues
« on: May 27, 2009, 04:01:51 PM »
I have a couple problems: firstly it is a 2.5L manual transmission

1) My oil pressure gauge doesn't work in my car.  What could be the problems i should check for in fixing this gauge?

2) I know this is stupid but i hit a pole a little while back while i was driving and texting at the same time(stupid i know) and my jeep still runs but it doesn't run very well. Between 1000 and 2500-3000 the acceleration is very jerky and very slow. What could be the problem with this?

If either of these can be answered, i appreciate it a lot

Thanks

Oil pressure sender unit.(metal bulbish piece on motor with a wire attached to it)

As for not running worth  turd, try changing your fuel filter, you might have knocked crap off the tank wall, or really stirred up the tank and filled the filter with sediment.

2)  Check the simple things like plugs, cap, rotor, wires because they can have a big affect.

Is the check engine light on? Is it a surge on acceleration or a hard missfire? A surge with MIL could be a fuel/sensor fault a hard buck missfire likely ignition. Look inside distributor cap for faults, consider tuning it up anyhow. If the check engine light comes on, cycle the key from off to on leaving it in on the third time. Watch the light and count the two didgt blink codes. 12 is start of list,55 is end, ignore 33.

no the check engine light isn't on.

when i accelerate from a light its really jerky and bouncy when i have my foot down and then once it hits around 2500-3000 rpm the jerking stops and it accelerates normally and sometimes it is bad enough that it jerks you back into your seat. This happens in every gear until it reaches the 2500-3000 mark. I have lost a lot of acceleration since the accident, even from 3000-5000 rpm it doesn't run as it used to.

Usually i drive at quite a low coasting rpm but because of this now i don't. Its super annoying.

Again thanks for the help in responding to this!

This sounds similar to what happen to my YJ and it landed up being the distributor cap and rotor was fouled, so I would check there.  It could be cracked
