To Part or Not to Part... That is the question...
« on: May 23, 2009, 12:58:23 PM »
Soooooo.... I've got a complete running and driving 81 Cj5.  304 v8, T-176 4spd, (shorty???) Dana 300, Dana 35 in the front and c20 in the rear.  The problem is that that the frame is POOCHED! If the body were in better shape i would just pick up a donor and swap it all over, but I'm thinking its time to cut my losses and start over.

My question to you guys is...  Is there a demand for these parts?  Will I get any decent money out of it?  (im looking to at least recoup 2500??? out of it)

The whole jeep is in working shape as i was driving it last weekend. Everything works, from headlights tail lights, radio, cb, 4x4 high and low, fires right up, idle's great.  Motor is really strong, and frankly the jeep surprised the heck out of me.

I would post pictures but I don't have any posted on a site to extract a link from.

So what do you guys think?

well its got the typical cj5 problems... the frame at the front rear leafspring hangers is cracked all to hell.... it is fixable, but i dont have the cash to pull the body and get a welder to patch it all up... from the t-case skidplate forward it seems to be in good shape...

Why not put all that drive train into a Commando?

I'll sell you my Commando without its drivetrain.

Take a peek at this thread for details and  let me know.
