superior A&G: super 35 kit

has anyone used the super 35 kit? I know someone will say: "for that much money you should just buy a 44 or 8.8 blah blah blah". Well thats all fine and dandy. I just want to know if anyone has any experience with the superior kits, and can you push 35" rubber with the super 35 kit?

Also, any reviews on the super 30 kit?

If you want to run 35s on a D35 with a super 35 kit you will also need to truss the axle because the tubes are thin and prone to bending.  Now I have read several people talk about the super 35 kits and once installed the weak point becomes the ring and pinion.

Personally, if you are going to 35s, spend the money on a new axle you will not regret it.  If you plan on staying at 33s or smaller, then I would go with the super 35 kit.

If and when I go to 35s, I will be installing a 30 splines shafts in my D30 and upgrading my ARB.

Super 30 is good. You can use stock rubi axles for spares.

Super 35 needs trussing with 35's.

We've run a super 35, trussed for over 3 years without failure. Its been comped on the rocks, and beaten harder then most can imagine.

So far so good.

If you can do the work yourself, its worth it. If not, a 44 is in the same $ range anyways.

Along with the Super 35 kit... Superior A&G offers:

1) C-clip eliminator kit
2) A rear inspection cover w/ bolt on brace that runs the width of the diff... along the back of the diff... not the top of the diff

So, having said that... here are a few questions:

1) Does anyone have any experience with the c-clip eliminator kit? I read somewhere they are prone to axle leaks?
2) Does anyone have any experience with the bolt on brace? Does it do anything other than look cool?
3) Which locker (detroit, ARB,Elocker) would a person recommend for the front (super 30 kit) on a TJ that runs 90% street/highway & 10% mud?
4) Which locker (detroit, ARB,Elocker) would a person recommend for the rear (super 35 kit) on a TJ that runs 90% street/highway & 10% mud?
5) Has anyone installed the super 30 & 35 and lived to regret it?

I am currently running 33's with a 4.XL stroker planned for next summer.

Sahara 01 on this site is running one the first D35 eliminator kits that came out. I set him up as a tester for superior before the kit was released to the public. I beleive we installed almost a year ago now. We had 1 issue with leaking. Pulled the shaft, carefully re set the seal, and I beleive he has been good ever since.

FWIW the seals are identical to a D44. The kit utilizes D44 semi float bearings and seals. The sealing issues are no different then anything on a regular 44.

Just ordered up all my SA&G Dana Super 30 and Dana Super35 stuff complete with E-lockers, c-clip eliminator kit, 4.56 gears, housing truss and overhaul kit(s). Should ship tomorrow Chad figures.

Everyone...

Now that I ordered this stuff... I am only accepting "congratulatory" type remarks. The time to talk me out of this was about 45 minutes ago :P

actually its nice to see someone pull the trigger and spend money. usually its hum and haw for a few months asking stupid questions in the forum... then when they finally decide they dont take any advice anyone gives them.

I usually give it at least 1 hum & a haw... then I break out the Visa and get on with it. I try not to over analyze (except for my towing regs thread... I definitely over thought that one)  ;D

This topic was interesting as I had some conflicting advice from people on the super 35... but everyone seemed to agree on the Super 30. So I figure... if the Super 35 doesn't work for me... I am sure it will work for someone and could sell it for a bit of cash and put that cash towards something I think will work for my application (2nd iteration). There no law that says you gotta get it right the first time ;)

Besides... I am pretty easy on stuff... so I will be very surprised if I break it  ???

dude, there are people that hammer on their stock dana 35, locked, and on bigger tires. and it survives. mine is one for sure. so, if your new parts are installed properly im sure it will do fine for your needs. like every one else said. no bigger then 35" tires and control the skinny pedal. it will live. :)

I pondered the same question before. I asked the publisher of Can4WD magazine(Albert Vandervelde); if a Superior 35 could handle the abuse of larger than stock tires.
He said he ran one on his XJ with 35-36" tires, and "abused" the heck out of it for years. He was surprised that it lived. Kudos for going a different route!

im still running my stock 35 on 36" tires, its not locked though, and i dont abuse it but i certainly do use it, and its only blown up once! lol. dana 44's in the next month here though
