Its either what clay said about the computer finally recognizing no post 02 and cat,  or its a bad temp sensor. Either one will leave your rig in open loop and cause really rich starts, and poor running.

Otherwise, only thing left is a bad injector. If you have an injector that is bleeding, it will act the same way. Pull the rail and see if an injector is leaking.

im starting to get lots more mileage now.  im already at 142kms and still half a tank.  thanx for everyone's  help.  the quest for mileage is sooo expensive.

Sounds like during the stat change, you may have inadvertantly fixed up the temp sensor. A warmer stat really wont make a significant different, although it will make a really small one due to operating at the proper temp/efficiency.

If your problem comes back, look to that sensor, or possible the pigtail for a cracked wire.
