I'd do a search on autotrader.ca for similar jeeps +- a year or two. Figure out what the one has that you're looking for and what it would be worth to you, for instance gear ratio and rear axle. If it's something you can live with if might be worth more to you than say 3.07's and a D35...... but if you plan on changing it out anyways then it doesn't really matter.
It might be worth around 8-9k?
As for recouping costs, as long as you keep it stock you should be ok.
