Strange vibration after brake/rotor change
« on: September 16, 2009, 11:23:02 AM »
Recently my mother changed brake pads and rotors on her jeep, now it has a strange vibration in the front that gets worse when you accelerate or turn.
I pulled the wheels off had a look and everything is as it should be. So I put the wheels back on made sure the lugs were tight and the wheels were properly inflated ext.

But the vibration still remains, any help is greatly appreciated as to what the problem may be. :-\

warped rotor vibrates when the brakes are on not during turns.

Pretty awesome mom if she does her own brakes!  Any chance she got a warped rotor right out of the box or one is sitting cocked when the wheel gets put back on?  Have you had a peek at it while it's moving down the road slowly to check for anything that's not true?

Sounds similar to what I'm trying to track down... replaced an axle shaft u-joint, rotated tires and ended up with a nasty wobble.

Yes, I've had a look at it while she drive at about 5kph - 20kph...all looks fine.
Vibration is bad enough that when your in the Jeep your hand falls asleep on the steering wheel, mirrors wiggle ext.
I've advised her not to drive it until the issue is sorted...but shes off holidays soon and will need it for work. :-\

take the rotors back and tell them thiere warped or out of balance. rotors are balanced like tires. i guess you could get the unbalanced or balanced wrong

Yes.
I guess I'll pull the rotors off and return them then...assuming they will take them back after that have been installed and used. ::)

Still looking for any other suggestion on what the problem could be, its a long drive into town~

take the rotors off.  swap sides the rotors are on.  if it vibrates in reverse and when you turn the other direction, we may be on to something....
