Sorry guys, fighting a cold, so I'm going to skip this run. Thanks stainless for the great idea of a year end run. Hope you all have fun and damage some sheetmetal for me, or just pop a couple of fuses...

Great way to end to season!! Thanks to Aaron for leading.  I think we all grew a little in the experience category. What a difference a little ice and darkness makes!!
Hope all got home ok.

Great day of near uh-oh'ing  ;D All in all it our Jeep definitly got a good workout in the snow and ice dept.Safe to say the next time we roll out for a snow/ice run your gonna see all 4 corners wrapped in some V-bar tire chains  ;) I know a couple of you were sporting chains how much were they from here locally?I',m on www.tirechains.com as I'm typing this and they want 125 us a pair for V-bars.

Make sure those tire chains have the cam locks on them to tighten them up. IE leclede truck tire chains ,not suv style.

Like Andy said...you'll want cam locks or other (lever style) tensioners around the circumference on the outside of the tire. Do yourself a favour and pick up about four good rubber bungee cords per tire as well - they keep the chains nice and snug and can save a lot of "wear and tear" on sheet metal.

Also, V-bar chains are the only chain I would run on ice. The light duty ones will help on paved roads in snow but I wouldn't trust them to stop a backwards slide down an icy hill.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(
