ok so i thought i would be a nice neighbor and took our work truck (2007 Ford F150) into an adjacent shop for the 50K service.

front rear diff fluid change
tranny fluid change
rad flush

the bill came in today and they are asking for $1380.00

partial breakdown for costs

synthetic 75w140 for diffs = $200
other fluids about $200
labour
tranny service $300
rad coolant flush $300
diffs about $250
check fluid levels $55.00

anyway what would a quote from a dealership be for this?

sorry, i work in a dodge dealer. we usually dont work on fords. the prices seem a little high for a regular shop. my guess is they figured its a company truck so the company pays for it, and since the company has money then you probably wouldnt care what the price was. ive seen it happen many times to fleet vehicles. of course fleet companies dont always fix whats needed so they kinda get what they deserve.

I've been in the buis for years.. i see it all the time, 4x4's come in, in need of majour service its a blank check.  Best to know what is exactly needed before doing it. I know the najour services on most trucks is about 11-12 hundy at a dealership... 13 sounds a bit much.

wasn't what i would call a major service though.  just fluid changes.  i could have driven to 3 shops and had it done for $4/500.00
