Snow Blade on ARB for TJ?

Keep in mind that you are going to want to be able to angle your blade to the left or right so that you can clear the snow off the road or driveway. Just pushing it straight forward does you no good as it leaves you with 2 big ridges on each side of your blade. As that snow piles up it gets harder and harder to keep pushing it. How you're going to accomplish this... I have no idea! Sorry to give you more questions instead of an answer.

I don't want to plow professionally... but figured I could jury rig something off of the tow points on the ARB and use the winch to move it up/down with some kind of  "gin pole" to clear my driveways, the street in front of the house, the alley behind the garage etc.  What do the more experienced people think?  Granted, I have *no* welding skills or equipment etc. and so would barely have an idea where to start.

I figure with the way things are going, we're going to get more of this kind of weather instead of less.  As they were poking fun on the Rubicon Owner's Forum, the global warming thing isn't panning out... it's snowing in TEXAS.

I've seen set-ups on Quads that essentially leave the blade "fixed" at an angle either right or left. You can change the angle, but you get out and do it by hand by pulling pins and pushing the blade over.

The up/down function on that style of blade is handled by a winch.

Go to Costco, they can get the snow bear plows which work ok for a reasonable price. I have one. I have had it for 6 years or more, and when I switch vehicle I just order the mounting kit from the factory and bolt on.

Key points-once the snow drifted and hard, you won't move it unless you have a comercial plow and a heavy vehicle/ blower or bobcat. Today I have to use the john deere cause my plow won't do crap. blade will just hinge over/breakaway, and this is to protect you from damage.

not hard to build i did one when i was 15 for a small quad i had 2x4, just to lazy to shovel
for the blade used about a third of a blue plastic barrel and bolted on some steel to bottom for a scraper edge
as for pivot did pins and turn at first, but a guy at my dads shop hooked up some 12 volt actuaters later on, i think they are still using it at the shop near ottawa, but upgraded to a 4x4 was a fun toy

Are you wanting to leave it on? if so just buy a proper one its fits and is just safer.  If you want to put it on and off and use it only when it snows make yourself a Vplow that hooks up on shakle attach point and winch it up and down, if you need it to do it.  then you dont have to figure out how to angle it, as the snow goes both ways.  You could go getto and buy a culvert and cut it in half , it would be heavy. or as previously stated buy a barrel and cut that.  Then its gonna be bolting stuff toghter not welding.  take pics and show it off

I could sell you my old one that I'm not using, and all you would need is a $15o dollar mounting bracket to mount it. Has angle and lifting winch attached. Also can be removed (It is the Costco Snow Bear one with lights)
