I think 40 hp from the kit is a bit high. Maybe mid 20's.  

I put on the Trail Jammer and a cat back exhaust when stock and it really did bring some life to my car rig.  Lost some of the umph when I lifted and put on 35's but I'm still glad I have it on.   I spent over $500 for eveything though (kit and exhaust) - can't recall exactly how much.  

And mine is a daily driver too.

So far  Cory has made the best suggestion, that is a nice camshaft however I'm not aware that Comp cams makes a cam for late model 4.0l engines.  Comp makes great products , they're just not up to speed with a couple of things as far as Jeep engines are concerned. I wouldn't waste  any money on an aftermarket programer or piggyback device.    $  500 isn't  gonna get you much at all ,   increase youre budget  , lower youre expectations  and don't waste  money on junk like  pretty coloured anodized throttle body spacers .

I saw that cam only fits 99's I think at the newest.  From what I have read, I find that odd, as the only differences I found from 99-2000 in the engine configuration are listed here:

I cant seem to find much on what this redesign on the head was.  Anyone have any ideas?

Back to the topic, one of the most cost effective and reliable mods is gears.  You may be able to find complete diffs to swap in from a parts yard on the cheap..
