JK AEV Pro-Cal Tester Needed - possible freebie!!!!
« on: November 12, 2009, 04:12:20 AM »
Hey, here's the situation.  I've got this AEV Pro-Cal module kicking around that doesn't seem to work AT ALL.  I need to try it on another JK to see if it's the module that's kicked it, or if it's my jeep's computer / ODB port.  It's never done anything, or had any effect, or signaled that it's worked in any kind so it shouldn't be tied to my JK's VIN code in any way.

X, Sport, Sahara, Rubicon models are all good.  Just gotta be a 2007-present JK.  The thing was about a $100 and I haven't been able to use it for a year, if it works on your rig YOU CAN HAVE IT FOR FREE!  It's more than worth knowing my computer's fubared.  If I KNOW it's the module than I can whine a little louder at AEV to do something about it, or buy another one, or buy another brand.

Send me a PM or post up here.  I'll be at work tomorrow afternoon/evening (Thursday for you daytime people) and can take a couple minutes to see how it goes.  The shop is in foothills industrial and pretty easy to direct over the phone.  This is kinda a first come first served deal.  Might have time on Friday or the weekend to meet up if takes that long to shake down a volunteer.

I'dbe glad to help you out...but I won't be back until early December.  :(

If nobody's stepped up before then, count me in.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

I have that module and a JK and it has worked great for me.  I would have to reset mine to factory for you to try it.  You turned the ignition on, not engine running, set the module, then plugged it in to the socket?  Mine only took a second to toot the horn and then I unplugged it.  I did have to sharpen a dowel in a pencil sharpener to make sure the tiny toggle switches were in the right position. Did you get it from Northridge?

-Have tired all the functions on it (that relate to my JK), and given them all at least an entire minute to take effect and had no results.  That includes the ignition on options, AND the engine running options like high idle.  So the switches have been well manipulated so don't think that's the issue, time shouldn't be an issue, running or not shouldn't be an issue... never been a horn honk OR change to any feature.

-I'm pretty sure in the summer I checked all my fuses when I was trying to get it to work, but I'll check and swap out the OBD port's fuse and re-try it just to be 100% on that too.

-I have tried another scanner, not a programmer, to see if I had any error codes, it stated it had "working communications" but showed no errors/code at all so that didn't really confirm anything for me.

-I did get it from Northridge... I've already talked to David about it WAAAAAY back when, but basically got the "ask AEV what they think" and they were about as helpful as bleep.  Left 2 voicemails, and 3 emails, and even a forum post, no response of any kind.

Also, I'm glad nobody posted up tonight cause somebody in the office side of our building turned off the router so I had no internet the entire night to check the board.
