If it seems like a good idea at the time it probably isn't!

The shift gate in the vehicle is different and the tab(arm) on the t-case is different but the rods are interchangeable. The tab that came with the t-case needs to be used.

Whan i swapped over a 231 to a 242 behind an ax15 i had to use the linkage of the 231 to make it work.I also had to adjust the rod linkage as well. The shift linkages are different as ther is an extra gate on the 242. If you are swapping from a 242 to a 231 behind an auto the you do not change the shift arm.But you still have an extra gate so just know what you are shifting to. What are you changing to and what tranny ?

Well I have a '89 comanche with a BA10, np231 and am switching to a AX15, np231.  I read that you need the linkage off the AX15 np231, but have used it elsewhere and was wondering if the one off my parts jeep wold work in place of the original one.
(something to do with tranny lengths or something)
