D44 axle swap

So I am wanting to put D44's in my YJ and found a pair that I hope will work.  The rear has been converted to discs and has been Lincoln Locked.  The pumpkin is offset to the passenger side.  Would this present any real issues if I am using a CV driveshaft?  Also I forgot to ask about the E-brake setup.  The front diff is open and has locking hubs.  There are also 36x12.5x15 interco superswampers that come with them.  The axles have been rebuilt with 4.88 gears and I am wondering how much my highway driving will suck with a 4.0 HO pushing it all!?

I am no expert but wouldn't the offset diff present an extra angle in the drive shaft because as I understand it the pinion should be pointing straight at the out put of the tcase with a CV driveshaft.  THere isn't any difference between a side ways angle and a vertical angle.  I think the double knuckle of the cv joint balances out the vibration and the side angle adds a third that has no compensating angle. 

I may be way off but just a thought.

how off set is this rear d44? the rear drivehsaft can life with whatever angle is thrown at it as long as its within its working range. it may be an issue if the rear shaft is all ready kinda short. if you dont have a slip yoke eliminator then now is a good time to get one.

how off set is this rear d44?
It appears the offset is about 5.5".  The d35 is about 3/4" offset.  That leaves the offset about 4 3/4".  Not sure what the angle would be.

the rear drivehsaft can life with whatever angle is thrown at it as long as its within its working range. it may be an issue if the rear shaft is all ready kinda short. if you dont have a slip yoke eliminator then now is a good time to get one.

I have a supershort SYE and a CV driveshaft.  I am hoping that I can get the driveshaft modified to a multiple double cardan shaft.  I think I am going to stop by DSI and get some info.  The ones that I found are Tom Woods shafts so I hope that DSI will make one for me.

I have a Ford 8.8 in the rear(Ford 8.8 has a 2.3" offset) and a wagoneer dana 44 in the front.  The front has a trutrac with 4.88 gears and the rear is welded with 4.88.  I have a slightly modded 4.0l and run 36/12.5R15 super swampers. I have no vibes(although I have a longer drive shaft) and don't have troubles on the highway.  My only compaint about highway speed(aside from the noise) is that the power is a little lacking.  I think that the lack of power is due to the tire weight more than the diameter.  When I run radial 35" tires I notice a significant power increase at highway speeds.

Driveshafts do not like compounding angles.

Sounds like a rare axle that isn't worth the trouble.

A 14b would be better, as it actually has aftermarket support.

I think I agree.  I looked into the double cv driveshaft and DSI thought it would be a bad idea.  It just sucks that the axles would have been a good deal.

i thought i saw a offset u joint somewhere. not sure what it would o for vibes though
