2.8? 2.5?
« on: July 16, 2010, 10:42:55 PM »
Hey all, Ive been googling the crap out of this and cant get much info. Im trying to find parts or a rebuild for a boat motor. Its GM four cylinders.(old boat) As far as my research goes this should be a common engine I think it is a 2.5l 183ci unit. Does anyone know where I can find a used one? Or parts to rebuild this old thing? Thanks for any direction, cheers

The 2.5 boat moter is the same as the pontiac iron duke or the same I think as 81 to about 71 jeep cj5 or cj7 moter. It should have the chevy bolt pattern on the back. It is 151 cid or half of a 307 chevy v8

Should have an ID plate on the boat somewhere telling what engine it is.
Also a tag with ID on the engine, and/or casting #'s.

Buying a Jeep rebuild kit might not help if the internals, heads, manifolds, etc... are all different on the marine engines.
