xtra heat
« on: August 04, 2010, 05:01:42 PM »
I have a old air contitioning cooling core from under the dash of a 94 yj.
my buddy thinks i can plumb this into the heater lines to give me heat in the back of my 94 yj, it still has the fan and controlls attached.

just woundering if anyone hase tried this and if it works and if so should it be plumbed inline or just "t"d in ?

Thanks

An AC unit in the back seat for heat?
It's be safer and easier to use a small princess auto electrical unit.

Or else, PM johnnyC about warming up yer back seat, he may have a trick down his sleeve   :)

Cabbage. Cabbage and limburger cheese. Include enough of those in your diet, and your back seat will be toasty warm.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(

I'm sure it could be done the question would be if you should...right off the bat I'd ask why not a heater core instead, from a wrecker if cheap is important, and if you can drop a few bux the pa heaters are the way to go...the heater core and fan both mounted in a box...as far as plumbing I tried running a "Y" on an auxiliary heater system and found that the fluid would give preferance to one circuit and not flow in the other, so I switched it to a series connection, as in out from the engine to the original heater core, then to the 2nd heater, then back to the engine, and this has worked really well. Are you looking to be warm with the top down? Cuz if normal type heat is what you are hoping to achieve as opposed to the anemic YJ heat, I remember reading an article in JP that said that the tj's heating was far supierior and compatible, i I recall corectly, the swapped a TJ fan and plenum into a YJ with better heat as a result.

Where the purgatory would you fit a heater in the back of a yj anyways?

just wanted to boost the heat if i needed too and i already had the parts at the house, all ill need is some heater hose and clamps so i figured if i could do it with what i have to save a buck or two, why not? with the unit i have it's just 3 vents, the core and a small blower already in a box wired up with the switches and itll fit behind the seats before the floor rises up to the back area. But if it cant take the heat or pressure id sooner switch to a heater core i guess than get scalded with hot coolant from it blowing up. just a idea i had and i like reusing stuff i have.
