I'm on my thrid day of transfering crates and crates of vinyl to CD. I have three turntables going 8 hours a day recording to hard disk. Then editing the files to individual tracks and authoring to CD. For anyone who remembers Vinyl or making tapes of your records, you'll recall that everything is real time, no high-speed dubbing or 24xCDR speeds.
I'm having the pleasure of listening to such great artists as Heino, James Last, Nana Mouskouri, Pavorati, Evie, and Melanie. Not to mention the wonderful compilations celbrating Oktoberfest, French Military marches, Russian Christmas', Italian romantics, and obscure German, Swiss, and Dutch party mixes. Among all this pap i did manage to find some gems and one album that really stands out...
a rare 1983 6 song EP German Pressing of Metalica's "Creeping Death"
Now, if anyone can tell me how someone makes the jump from James Last and Nana Mouskorui to a Metalica I'd love to hear it.
Anyways, I'm 43 records into approximately 150 total and I'm starting to go a little bonkers. Needless to say, I'll be right primmed for a drink or two tonight at a x-mas party. I just hope they aren't playing any traditional Austrian christmas albums cause I've heard them all already.
Hope to see you all there.
