hey all, does anyone know if a chevy 350 would be a good choice for my J20? its a 76 with th400 and quadratrac. I have a full complete 350 donor with everything i need just wondering if it can work. or if not what would? the 401 is shot and very incomplete which looks like an expensive roiute. thanks!

Well the 350 is relativity inexpensive, easy to work on with great aftermarket support.   Fantastic power.   I love them, but you will be in for installing new body mounts and making sure clearance is good.

You ask if it will work, what are your concerns?

Concearns-     engine mounts- should be easy enough in the aftermarket world to find some adapters?
                          transmission- will my 350 bolt up to the th400? adapt that?

                           the wiring,plumbing,cooling etc im pretty good at so i dont see a lot of concearn in that department, just wanted to make sure that the engine i have can work or not. as long as the mechanical part of it
                           could get in there im good with the rest.
                         
                           my research only tells me that it could work fine but the th400 in AMC jeep was different then in chev/gm vehicles

The engine mount are about $90 bucks USD plus shipping, not sure what the price is from a Canadian distributor.  

Then for the Tranny:

Advanced Adapters  I believe has an Adapter for this mate. But it can be done without the adapter if you have a Chev TH400 or a Chev TH400 empty housing, then that will bolt to your Chevy motor.

Just swap out the tailshaft from the AMC TH400 into your Chevy housing, or you can take out all the internals from the AMC TH400 and put them into your empty Chevy TH400 housing. The Chevy TH400 will bolt up to the Q-Trac.

if you got the rest down then you should be able to pull it off

thanks for your help. another day of research and pondering and i think i can make it work. between advance and novak these guys can do pretty much anything you have in mind. i am going to finish pulling the 401 and look at the sbc350 and see what what really needs to be done. any other ideas are appreciated (google strays fairly broad sometimees)
