I tried to find a limited slip rear diff (8.25, 3.07 ratio, no ABS, manual 5 speed, 4 litre) but very rare... Can anyone help me modify an open diff so it will work in my 97 jeep Cherokee sport similar to the limited slip (all four wheels lock as a four by four should).  Willing to pay a reasonably amount.  Any HELP urgently needed....please anyone!
PM me and i will send a phone number so we can chat.

a limited slip will not lock all 4 wheels. But a pair of lockers will :). And an 8.25 with 3.07's can't be that hard to find, even if it has limited slip!

Even with a lsd you aren't in TRUE 4x4...the front is still open. .why not ditch the lsd and pop in a lockright or aussie locker for a couple hundred bucks.
Getting grumpier every day.

98 ZJ - It's just ugly, but bigger than your Rubi

just a though, but you could swap the rear and front axle out of an automatic and probably get 3.55 gears and possible a limited slip.  anything is better than the 3.07

LOL thats the problem i dont know .... my mechanic says the carrier is going. Makes a noise when no gas is applied.
Told the easiest solution is to replace rear diff.... but it is limited slip and cannot find one (believe me i have tried).
Most people recommend to get an aussie or lockright with a used open diff rear end and put that in. I know i can use an open diff but then it does not work the same.

I do not know the best or lets say easiest/cheapest solution..... because the jeep is old.  Can the current diff be fixed/replaced.

Plus i can not do this on my own, not knowledgeable enough or have the equipment,  so i need help with all solutions.

sounds like you have some bad bearings. either carrier or pinion.  does it howl on acceleration or coasting?  or is it always a loud whine?

probably either a wheel bearing or carrier bearings.   either way if you have to take it apart you might as well replace them all.

bring it to Jay at Chanda or Dave at Broken Axle.  they know jeeps;  they fix alot of them.  cause people break them ;)

also, once you realize the LSD isn't worth the hassle you are going through, i have a diff for ya. will sell it cheap;)

He's already been in.  The posi itself has broken apart and damaged the carrier.  He's already had some pricing on rebuilding/replacing.  I wouldn't recomend the aussie locker for him because it is a DD that doesn't seem to ever see off road.  Cheapest option was to swap for a complete diff, but as stated he wants a posi and we couldn't find one.

The current diff could be repaired but a new lsd carrier was around 700 or something like that!
