Hey Everyone,

I'm new here to the site.  I go commando (A personal friend and member here) recommended it.  (If I've posted this under the wrong spot, please move).

I'm also Whuntmore over at AMC Eagle's nest, and I'm a member of the AMCA here in Calgary.

I have an 1986 AMC Eagle wagon (sorry jeep guys) and I've been doing upgrades, new parts and some mods to it.  Nothing major, just want it to run great.

So far I've upgraded the ignition system (hotter coil, better HEI, plugs, wires, etc) done the ECM bypass (Nutter) and I've got a Motorcraft 2150 to replace the old Carter.  Brakes, front end (steering) Shocks, and so on.

I've considered doing a 4.5 stroker, but I'll probably settle for a 4.0 HO with a 4 speed tranny (with OD) and a 231 T-case.  I will be looking for these probably in Feb or March.

Under "Fabrication Group Buys & Dealers" I know the owner of Evolution (Clayton) - I work for his dad.  Clayton has offered to do the swap, and any fabrication of connectors needed (yokes, joints, etc)  I'm probably gonna need a newer rear end once it's all done.

Looking forward to learning some important info, and thank you all.

Awesome! I have a soft spot for Eagles as well. Used to have two LTD wagons and my wife had an SX/4. Wish I could have that SX/4 back!

I will have to check out that AMC forum.

Hey, thanks guys!

Eagles are pretty neat cars.  They don't have the ability of a jeep, but they are fun to drive.   The only downside is you have to get somewhat creative with getting some of the parts - Upgrades or mods or switching.

SX/4's are totally cool Eagles.  Nothing like a sporty little hatchback that's a 4x4.  I was hard after one, but I couldn't pass up the deal with my wagon.  It ain't hot, but it's all mine, and it actually runs pretty decently for mostly stock.

Broken Axle huh?  what kind of conversion?   big V8?  I had a look at their site.  Looks good.

The one issue I've noticed in dealing with unknown shops (unknown to me of course), is you never know if they hate AMC'S.  Some just have a general dislike for the cars, and then crappy service can result (Too bad I didn't know they are willing to do Eagles).  But Clayton's wife has been a fan of eagles, so I know he'll do a good job.

I will have to check out this 'Broken Axle' though.  Sounds wicked.  Love to check out what they're doing to that Eagle there.

Are you the group who does the "Shake Night" at Peter's?    If yes, then I know like 3 or 4 members here.

We are putting a 4.6 stroker, ax15 and 242 into the eagle we have here.  We pulled out a 4.2, auto and some fully vacuum operated t-case.  thats the short story.  I am going to do up a full build thread a little closer to completion...
