The Toyo Koolaid........I Drank It........ I am a Believer
« on: December 12, 2011, 08:02:53 AM »
Well I finally got my arse in gear and swapped out the Hancook DynaPro MT's I have been running for about a year and swapped em over for a set of 35" Toyo Open Country MT's.  As many of you who have been out wheeling with me (specifically winter wheeling) I have had my share of challenges with the Cooked Hams.

Now many people have given me suggestions and support, along with some gentle (and sometimes not so gentle) ribbing as I ran hills at 4,000 RPM in 3rd gear.  Or backed down the same stretch of hill for the 15th time, or had to get pulled out of a meadow buy a guy on his cross country skis (ok maybe an exaggeration but you get my point)

Well I have run the Toyos for most of this week around town and I did notice they seemed to bite the snow better.  Then I went out and hit some winter trails.............I don`t know if the Toyo`s are that good or if its just that the Hancooks are just  that bad on snow and ice.............all I can say is that I have drank from the fountain of the Toyo Koolaid and I am a believer.  The difference is well..........frankly unbelievable.

So while I only have experience with 3 different tires the 32 inch BF Goodrich that come stock on the Rubi (not a bad tire), the Hancook DynaPro MT (horrible on snow and ice but they love mud and rocks) and the Toyo`s (so far the best winter tire by far.........I am assuming great in the summer based on how many guys run them but will see how it goes from there)

I have the 4 Hams............they still have plenty of tread.  I just need to get a 5th Toyo and I will fire em up if someone is interested in them................a different thread for that of course.

My dually 1 ton came with a set of Toyo M55s(heavy duty truck tire with a mud type pattern) thought they would be awefull in winter but was actually surprised, they were pretty decent(for a dually).

Yup. We run a mix of the M55 and Toyo Open Country AT's on our fleet vehicles at work. For an oilpatch tire, they are hard to beat. Expensive....but worth it.
I followed a rainbow out to a garage and found a leprichaun. The rainbow ended in a potted cactus on his porch, but there was no gold :(
