New heavy duty custom diff cover for Chrysler 8.25
« on: December 24, 2011, 02:00:31 PM »
So I picked up a heavy duty diff cover for my Durango which has the 8.25. I just had an Auburn LSD installed last week and noticed how paper thin the diff cover is from factory. So I picked up a new cover from Ruff Stuff Specialties. This thing is stout made of heavy gauge steel and I opted for countersunk bolts and a drain plug for easier fluid changes.

I would love to post a pic but I don't know how.

i have a couple diff covers from them as well, super beefy stuff. not many companies build covers for the 8.25 but they are out there. my experience with ruffstuff wasnt the greatest though. if you want to buy their products phone them and ask for Dan. dont bother with ordering through the website. Canada has a different shipping set-up from them and you need to talk to them directly.

I had a great experience and I did talk to them directly. I think I paid an extra 14 bucks in brokerage fees and canada post handing. All in all it ran me about 165 to my door. Looking forward to installing it soon.

Dan used to live in Banff or Canmore i think... he knows our area fairly well.

I had a few hick up with the install of his diff covers. I had to grind the inside of cover of the 8.25 to fit my Detroit locker. I had to do the same with Bonnie's D44 front 2ND cover. I had Dan send me a new D44 cover on my first shipment because the cover was welded too deep on the ring...way too deep. He sent it within 7 days free of charge. I had real good customer service.

It's like anything "custom" ... you might need to grind a few spot for clearance. It's 3/8 think stuff...it can take a bit of grinding w/o compromising its strength.
