Laptop mount for my truck
« on: December 14, 2011, 11:37:48 PM »
So I was on the hunt for a laptop mount for my company truck and found a few options. The first was a Jotto Desk for 425.00. It uses one of the passenger side seat bolts to attach to the floor and then it has various adjustments to change the angle and height of the stand. The bonus too is you can still use the passenger seat with minimal chance of hitting your knees.

The second option was from Keelok down by the burger bus but their unit was almost 650.00. Similar setup but a heavier unit and the said more durable.

The third option was from Ram Mounts. This unit has a bracket that uses both seat bolts on the passenger side and again lots of adjustment. The bonus too is you can buy just the seat bracket for a different rig and a ton of accessories are available. I got this one from GPS Central by Tim Hortons by Shaw. It was 250.00 and took me about an hour to put together and install. Very sturdy and slick to use.

If anyone is looking for a unit like this go for this one and save your dough. I hope someone else finds this helpful.

I'd also recommend GPS City up in the NE.  They have a decent site that's easy to navigate as well.  It's where I go for all my camera mounts, GoPro mounts etc.  They always have everything I've been looking for.

I got my ram mount laptop from gps as well. Held up fine so far and I use it on the jeep as a gps when wheeling.

I've installed a few jotto  units as well. They are nicer as they often have power outlets built into them but not $200 nicer.

I've been using a Ram-mount laptop stand in my hi-way trucks for more than 6 years, (same mount 4 diff. trucks).
Ram-mount can not be beat  in my opinion! (life time warrenty on all there stuff) I also use their radar detector mount, camera mounts, universal cellphone cradles, suction cup mounts, etc, etc.
The really cool thing is all their stuff is interchangeable as long as the ball size matches.

Go to their site and check out the vibration/shake test videos .
