i admit, i am addicted to Barrett Jackson Auctions. If i am home i am watching. If i am at work, i am perusing the 'solds' online. i love it. i fantasize about which cars i would buy. But i also know i will one day be buying one. This year, so  many cars on the Tues, Wed and Thursday auctions that ae beautiful clean musclecars went for between 18 and 35g's.

Every year, there are better deals to be had as the prices keep dropping. Camaros are going slowly up in price and the Mustangs still remain ridiculously high, although i notice the 'lower' end mustangs have come down.
GTO's with the 400 and auto in them are really affordable now.
Novas are the new darling of the auction and have gone off the charts in price.
Corvettes still remain high but a few 427/4 speeds have gone for under 40.

But below was the deal of the show. The commentators on Speed were stunned. It was sold on a Thurs night which is the first 'prime' time selling block. Out the door including BJ juice, it went for $22,000.

Known as the Nasty Nash, this 1954 Nash Pinafarina club coupe is a wild design. Powered by a 327cid high horsepower V8 with aluminum intake and double hump angle plug heads, this little Nash gets down the road and fast. A 9" Ford rear with comfortable 3.25 gears makes this car a pleasure to drive on the highway. Tube chassis construction, ladder bar rear with coilovers, front end is an A-arm style, with rack & pinion steering, disc brakes all the way around, Mickey Thompson big meats tucked under the rear on polished Weld Rodlite wheels, leather interior, full cage, stereo and seat belts.

Thats a very sharp car, never been the biggest fan of the wheels being covered up but that one pulls it off very nicely!

OK, this one just sold. It will be talked about for years. A BARN find...

An amazing barn find that was owned by its original owner until 2009. It has complete documentation that includes a copy of the original sales agreement from Shelby American to Galpin Ford and shipped to Webster Ford in Caruthers, Calif., who sold it to the original owner on September 29, 1965. It has a California Pink Slip, the sales agreement between Webster Ford and the original owner and the California Black plates are still on the car. It has the original, matching numbers engine and drivetrain, original paint and interior with 44,000 original miles. All original sheet metal, glass and four wheels. The engine and transmission have been freshened and the car is very drivable. There is photo documentation of removing it from its resting place of many years.

i agree. And where could one ever spend 22g's and get a 'brand new' 54 Nash with a 327? i love it.

Just sold over 60 cars this past summer at BJs since my Dad moved into a retirement home from a 12,000 square foot house and 40,000 square foot heated garage in Oakville, Ontario (retired vp of Ford in Oakville). Some didn't even make the auction floor since the 'big money'gets to look at them before the auction. That is how I ended up with the cream of the crop (68 gt 500kr with 428 cobra jet and 69 boss 9).  My brother got the original '65 cobra with the 427...

That 350 is one of the 'premier 'stangs on everyone's list...Wish I would have know about it on the block...

If you are a car buff you MUST spend a day at BJs in Arizona...

Yep, your 2 cars are worth insane money. i give credit to Shelby for promoting a brand that continues to be worth tons. It makes no sense to me how any car, let alone that many types/models/years of Mustangs are 'worth' so much. It really is ridiculous, but for the ones that own them, definitely an investment in one's future.

i agree, if it isn't on your bucket list, put it on there. i was at BJ last year and it was one of my highlights in life.

i do have to ask RUBICON13, when you own something that is worth so much money, do you actually drive them much? How many miles did you put on those 2 sweet stangs you own last year?
i only ask because i could never be a collector. i would just want to dd them all summer long. Of course, it would take a lottery to pay 150,000 for a car not to 'care' about. i figure 50g's will get me a nice dd musclecar next year that i will not care about stone chips, etc.

I just got them delivered to my house outside Millarville this past summer because my Dad had to move to a retirement home.

Before that they were in my Dad's collection at my parents house in Oakville, Ontario (home of Ford, Canada). They did not get driven on the road anymore but, my Dad had a system in his garage (can't remember what it is called) that you could put cars on and 'drive' them to keep them in running condition. My Dad bought both brand new so he only paid about $5,000 for each and he drove them early on. The 1969 Boss 429 was a gift to me for my birthday on December 26, 1968. The one he got rolled off the line on December 22, 1968 (plant was closed on my birthday). So, I might actually be buried in that one! The only thing that is not stock is the paint due to fading. It is now black cherry instead of black. Even have the original polyglass tires but are not on the car. Last time I saw a 1968 GT 500 KR convertible go at BJs it was in the $500,000 range and the Boss was in the $250,000 range. My brother got the 1965 ac cobra with the 427 which is valued at about $2 million. I have not driven either since they arrived and am thinking about donating them to a museum where they will be taken caare of properly. Maybe even try and see if Jay Leno might want to buy them. His collection is second to none...

When good weather arrives I will have a few CJA people who are car buffs over to see them. A BBQ sounds like fun...

wow. i knew they were worth lots but those are the holy grails. i could never drive them.
Jay Leno buying them would be very cool. Even taking a tiny amount of the sale price and buying something you would drive would be awesome.
Your Dad was one smart guy buying and keeping so many cars. If 60 of his collection was sold last year (if i understood that corretly) than your Dad is a pure Genius!

Even if you did a pic/tech thread on those cars in Chit Chat here, that would be interesting for many of us, i am sure.

This DB9 Volante was sold new in Beverly Hills, CA and has been driven just 22,068 miles since. It is finished in Jet Black with Obsidian Black and Phantom Grey full leather, which features optional GPS Satellite navigation, Bluetooth phone preparation and Linn 260W 5.1 surround sound audio system. The car additionally has optional factory red painted brake calipers, power-folding wing mirrors, light grey interior stitching, walnut dash board veneer and walnut door cappings. Original MSRP upon delivery was $182,905 plus the cost of the upgraded wheels. Included with purchase are the leather-bound owner's handbook, complete dealer maintenance history and print-out of the options from Aston Martin and a spotless CARFAX report noting zero history of accidents or other issues.

Wow, very nice car! Sometimes I wish I had bought a convertible. But, the sheer performance of a V-12 in a car that weighs about the same as a Porsche 911 without the unruly manners is sheer bliss...

Although I love most cars, blowing away several corvettes, and others this past summer put the biggest grin on my face...

Don't forget the pure crystal key fob ($2,500) that Aston Martin calls something like the 'pleaseure enducer' or something like that...

Most of the vehicles my Dad bought (for $3,000 - $6,000) were brand new Fords (he worked for Ford in Oakville for 30 years) including a car each time there was something significant in his life (Marriage (T-Bird), Kids (5: 4 T-birds because my siblings were all born before the Mustang and 1 Mustang for me; grandkids, etc.). The dark horse in the family was a 1988 supercharged Mercury Couger (only year built) bought for approximately $15,000 in '88 which sold this past summer for $105,000. Was he a genius? Probably not. Just someone who loved cars and got a little lucky.

Have any of you guys met or heard of Fred Phillips?  Awesome guy and even more awesome collection http://www.driving.ca/rare+cars+private+collection/2783308/story.html .  We took our Scout group for a tour of the collection....3 hrs was no where near enough time!!!!
