I have a 96 cherokee 4.0L and lately I've been experiencing some hesitation/stalling putting the vehicle under load, and it seems that it happens when the jeep is hot, and then once it starts it'll even dip the idle to almost a stall sitting at a light. If the jeep is fresh and cool, it seems to be fine. So, I decided that it might be symptoms of a fuel pump issue. I went out and bought a new filter, and a new pump.
Replaced the filter, and replaced the pump. Now I can hear the relay working, and the pump whirring turning the ignition to the on position, but no fuel is being delivered from the tank. I unhooked the hose to the fuel filter so that I would just have a hose coming from the tank to see if it would squirt out fuel, and nothing. Thought maybe we reversed the wires, so we tried that, and it makes noise, but does not seem to pump any fuel into the line.
Any thoughts? I've heard it could be the pressure regulator, but everything was working fine before...
