YJ Poor Idle and some backfire
« on: June 30, 2012, 08:10:31 PM »
So my old YJ ran well today. 90 4.2l.
Until one rather deep hole. Stalled, but started up right away.
However it did not then want to hold a idle. Had to keep reving it or it would stall.
Would start up right away though. As we abandoned or day and drove out I got a few backfires
as I rolled down some hills in 2nd or 3rd while not giving it any gas.
Any suggestions on where to start would be great, distributor? Carb?
Thanks!!

Take your distributor cap off and check for dampness. Water there will cause this to happen. If some water got into the carb it would be cleaned out by now unless you had it really drenched and waterlogged.
