Hey if you guys and gals have clothing, backpacks, gloves, hats, boots, hard hat, safety vests, coats, ski wear, belts.
Hygenic stuff, soap, shampoo, razors, shaving cream.
National Geographics (are popular) or other good books, they dont need a ton of reading material, they just got to switch up the reading material of 15 books they already have.
Food, anything you have. Tea, Milk, Chocolate Milk, Oatmeal, Hot Chocolate, Lunch Meats, Peanut Butter, Jam, Cheese, cans of food, beans, chili, ready made soup (Nothing that you need to microwave, they eat it cold and have a hot water kettle in the common area)
The key with them is they dont have a huge holding freezer or fridge but what they do is when the fresh stuff comes in they give that out first.
Men or Womens, no childrens stuff.
Please drop it off at the Alpha House at.....
203 15 Ave SE, Calgary, its the building with the red metal grate over the windows.
Ring the door bell, and someone will come if they arent outside already.
http://alphahousecalgary.com/Home_Page.htmlAlpha House is a street level shelter and detoxification agency for females and males over 18, located on the corner across from Shoppers Drug Mart on Macleod Trail and 15 Ave SE, a block North of the Casino. I do not work for them, but visited them over the holiday season. They are a harm reduction model, which also operates SafeWorks (Condoms,Testing/Needles) and the DOAP team which transports people to hospitals, gives out food and clothing to people out on the street.
Alpha house has a main level for people who can drop-in, they sleep on a 4" thick foam mat, the next guy is inches away on your left and right and at one end. The second level is detox/spin-dry, like Renfrew.
You hear commercials for the Mustard Seed and The Drop-In Center all the time, and they get most of the donations of food and clothing.
