Deductive Reasoning
« on: March 01, 2013, 07:29:16 AM »
As I get closer to retirement, and find myself slowing down, I sometimes look for opportunities to keep my deductive reasoning skills sharp.

Today I raked the leaves, and after doing so I sat down and had a nice cold beer. The day was gorgeous, and the brew facilitated some deep thinking on various topics.

After a while, for some inexplicable reason, I began to ponder the age-old question: “Is giving birth more painful than getting kicked in the nuts? Women always maintain that giving birth is way more painful.

Well, after a second beer, and some reasonably serious deductive thinking, I came up with my answer to that question.Getting kicked in the nuts is more painful than having a baby …… and here is the reasoning behind my conclusion.

A year or so after giving birth, a woman will often say, "It might be nice to have another child."

On the other hand, you never hear a guy say, "You know, I think I would like another kick in the nuts."

I rest my case . . . still sharp as a tack.

I like your thought process,...but

If I were to suggest your theory to my wife (who is just 3 months past giving birth), my deductive reasoning tells me I will be testing your theory first hand.  My concern is that despite trying to maintain a scientific process, the control element may fail, as my wife will likely continue kicking me even after I have gone down. I also suspect there will be further variation in the form of thrown items once she reaches 10 feet away and determines that we have failed to account for the emotional stress factor and thus feels the need to projectile any jeep parts lying around my way to further emphasize her point and further my understanding of the magnatude of her recent experience. (all for my benefit of course).  Further deductive reasoning leads me to consider that my wife may decide she needs to know where I got this theory from, and following, what will no-doubt be a barage of physical and mental torture, I will eventually fold under the pressure, and reveal my source, eventually resulting in you, Vinman, sitting on your finely manicured lawn, holding your beer bottle in the most uncomfortable and inappropriate place you can imagine, I would even go further and guess you would have about a 50-50 chance she may decide to employ a wine magnum to further your personal understanding of the pain involved in the birthing process....My sweet and kind wife is pretty well the most dangerous creature on the planet right now LOL

Yeah ! So in conclusion, for your own protection and mine, I am just going to forget I ever read this.
