i would almost say the cat is plugged but don't think it'd bring that code up and would smell like rotten eggs  and at night would glow red, and little exhaust would come out

I actually thought that it was a plugged exhaust at first by the way it bogged down.

It starts great though, and runs good, until it warms up a bit. Apparently the o2 sensors don't "come online" when starting, this fits the problem.

Still could be a leak, that requires the block or intake to heat up to allow for a vacuum leak to occur, but I feel this has been tested so many times now with nothing found.

Sensor will be in this afternoon and hopefully get it installed tonight.

Well dealership sold me the wrong part.... new one isn't in until Friday.
What a PITA getting the old one out, I finally gave in to the try PB to un-stick bolts, figuring it would be like all the other "best penetrant to use" cans...... Wow, I am a believer!

Well rule out the o2 sensor :'(

idle is good
showing lean condition, but burning rich
a little bit of a popping when over 35oo rpm(have a bit of range again)
seems to get more sluggish the longer I drive.

it is now more of a hesitation and no power issue. it just seems weird that only the rear bank shows any signs of an issue.

Dealership was closed.... but at least I had time to find the issue.

Good Call Jenssen, the Cat was completely done.

Any body have any success with any online shops that have carry catalytic converters , the only place up here that has a replacement wants $2000 for theirs.

WHAT THE F. What the hell is it made of?... Friken gold?  A universal cat from magnaflow with a spot for an o2 is like 85$ from crappy tire. I'm sorry to hear you're getting raped up wherever you are.

1498 for the part (its the two cats coming from the header) $798 for labor, and some misc parts.

Good news is I found a flowmaster replacement for $498 on line and the dealership matched the price, I will do the install.

New question though do I really need the third cat located right before the muffler.

I am replacing the parts, from the manifold down to that cat, I can see why the first two off the headers are essential for proper operation of the o2 sensors, but am thinking of just running from the down pipe directly to the muffler and out.

Can I do this without issue, or is that other cat essential?

Short answer is yes if it doesn't have an o2 after than nothing will change.

Carline on 58th ave SE have "high flow" cats they can install for cash and no reciept...

The 2 upstream are needed yes... They still might be able to give you a good deal tho. I have always dealt with Al and never had a bad experience there.
I did a Google search for "hot trannies" but nothing came up about oil coolers  :o

Worrying too much about mpg with a Jeep is similar to worrying about your sister's virginity. An ok thing to be concerned about but...

Well $800 later and everything is now replaced... headers, cats down pipe, cut out the third cat and replaced the muffler. all 2.5 inch.

Still need to put on proper muffler, as I had an old cherry bomb tube sitting on the shelf from back in my teen days. Good news is I have grown up a bit as I now recognize that the extra loudness is annoying to most people, still brings a smile to my face though out on the back roads.
